Anti-Wrinkle Injections
Anti-wrinkle injections, commonly known as ‘Botox’, is the all-round term used to describe the anti-wrinkle, muscle relaxant: an injectable treatment used to reduce signs of ageing. With over 30 years of medical history in the NHS, it can be used for a wide range of purposes, such as migraines, muscle spasms, cerebral palsy, bladder instability and squints.
In fact, it was noted that after injecting squints with Botox®, wrinkles diminished on the treated side. It was then introduced into the aesthetic world. With its extensive history in the NHS, it has a vast amount of safety data and has become the most common aesthetic procedure.
Anti-wrinkle treatment is used to treat dynamic lines (lines which appear from facial expressions, such as when you smile or frown), whilst also promoting the production of collagen and elastin. If your concerns are around static wrinkles, dermal fillers might be a more suitable option.
Anti-wrinkle injections can be used for many cosmetic purposes, with common sites including crows’ feet around the eyes, forehead lines and the frown lines between the brows.
Other areas that can be treated include muscles causing a gummy smile, downturned mouths, strong muscle bands in the neck (platysmal bands, sometimes known as a Nefertiti lift) and sagging jawlines. The injections are also a useful medical treatment for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) and jaw clenching (bruxism).
Our anti-wrinkle treatments are carried out by Dr Lorraine Hill and Nurse Esther Loughran in our luxurious clinic in Knowle, Solihull.
